" I told the doctor
I broke my leg
in two places.
He told me
to quit going
to those places."

-- Henny Youngman

To truly laugh, you must be able
to take your pain, and play with it!
--- Charlie Chaplin

My Friend ---
In and amongst the Pain laced with cynical smirks and snarky moods, I so applaud the way you have actually tried to positively deal with your body's tedious pain, and literally muster a 'leg up' as they 'usta say -  and still reach out to be there for others also -- JT , your voice of goodness pushes thru. When some people ask me How I feel, I mischievously reply "Compared to What ?" or to most people I usually reply fairly honestly "Much Better than Before" or "I Am Not My Pain" -- and that's true - everyday among my collection of k'vetchy "Don'ts" and "Can'ts"and other self-created bummers, I DO find so many things, enough to be thankful for and to be happy about ! Like-- Thanks to us for giving to ourselves the greater opportunity to serve - given the current politics - it seems we gonna' have a genuine upheaval of a fight on our hands and Heart to serve each other supportively in the trenches !!! Although the world is full of suffering,
it is also full of the overcoming of it.
There are no justified resentments. -- Helen Keller

Sleep is like the Unicorn,
It is rumored to exist,
but I doubt I will see any...

Find a place inside where there's joy,
and the joy will burn out the pain.   -- Joseph Campbell

Loneliness expresses the pain of being alone
and Solitude expresses the glory of being alone.
Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail
in order to practice being brave. --  Paul Tillich

He who learns must suffer. And even in our sleep,
pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart,
and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom
to us by the awful grace of God.
--- Aeschylus

The whole notion of pain, and how every individual experiences pain, is up for debate. We don't know how another person experiences pain - physical pain or psychic pain. Some of these Oregon clinics where assisted suicide or euthanasia is practiced, they call it 'weariness of life.'
-- Miriam Toews

Some days, 24 hours is too much to stay put in, so I take the day hour by hour, moment by moment. I break the task, the challenge, the fear into small, bite-size pieces. I can handle a piece of fear, depression, anger, pain, sadness, loneliness, illness. I actually put my hands up to my face, one next to each eye, like blinders on a horse. -- Regina Brett

To know yourself as the Being underneath the Thinker,
the stillness underneath the mental noise,
the love and joy underneath the pain,
is freedom, salvation, enlightenment.
-- Eckhart Tolle

If you aren't in the moment, you are either
looking forward to uncertainty,
or back to pain and regret.
-- Jim Carrey

MEDITATION: The practice of simple sitting silent meditation has been everything to me --or nearly close. Mindfulness meditation: my place of refuge, a place I've always gone where and when I needed comfort, the wisdom of a wise heart, and peace. It's been the site of intense pain and the most intense feelings of joy and satisfaction. My relationship with meditation is just that: a 'relationship' -- it's a relationship that has evolved over time, and given me the greatest respect and love for the human phenomena itself that realized the potential of an insight meditation -- I am Grateful. -- anonymous meditator

Plz, read this when
you can settle down
and read this in one go ----

Desiderata --  1927
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace
there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater
and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements
as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own
career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the
changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution
 in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you t
o what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity
and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to
 shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself
with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of
fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe
is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life
keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery,
and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

--- American Poet
Max Ehrmann, Desiderata

Doubt is a pain too lonely to know that faith is his twin brother. - Khalil Gibran

People fear death even more than pain. It's strange that they fear death. Life hurts a lot more than death. At the point of death, the pain is over. Yeah, I guess it is a friend.
Jim Morrison

Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life. What is it you would let go of today?
Mary Manin Morrissey
